DROP for good Media Release
Why is DROP for good making Face Shields?
Unprecedented times call for unprecedented action. As a group with a rich history of manufacturing and engineering we felt this was a great opportunity to put our skills to work and make an impact against the effect of COVID-19. DROP is from a community nestled in the heart of the West Kootenays, as such we understand the impact of losing industry, jobs and stability. This is something we can do to help keep our community moving and to help our global community in this time of need.
Where are the Face Shields being produced?
DROP's main manufacturing facility is located in the heart of the West Kootenay's, in B.C. Canada. We have dedicated a large portion of our manufacturing resources to produce DROP Face Shields. The DROP Face Shield will only be produced to meet the needs during the COVID-19 pandemic.
How is DROP for good meeting WHO and Health Canada requirements?
DROP has implemented various measures, on advice from Health Canada and the WHO, including social distancing, sanitaztion routines and even split shifts to minimize the risk to our employees as well as allowing for us to increase production output by over 30%. We have taken every precaution to meet or exceed all guidelines for maintaining a safe workplace during these times.
Is DROP certified by Health Canada to produce the Face Shields?
Yes! DROP Manufacturing has a Health Canada Medical Device Establishment Licence ( Licence Number 11806) for the manufacture of devices for distribution, including the production of Face Shields.
How many Face Shields can DROP make?
Currently, DROP is producing the Face Shield based on market demands of 5000 units per day. At full capacity, DROP is equipped to produce over 48,000 Face Shields per day, with capacity of producing over 1.48 million per month if required.
What is the best way to purchase DROP Face Shields?
Right here on our website! We have the entire purchasing system setup for online purchase, accepting payment through Paypal with multiple shipping options available for delivery across North America. Please contact us if you are unable to use our online store.
How is distribution prioritized?
We are working with government authorities as well as Health Canada to ensure the Face Shields and going to the places where they are needed first. Please contact us directly if you represent a government organization requiring immediate support.
The online store is open to everyone and orders placed there will be fulfilled in consecutive order.
How is DROP for good setting the price for the Face Shields?
DROP for good is producing these face shields and selling them at cost. By selling at cost we are able to maintain production and keep our production team at work and busy during these difficult times. The price has been set in USD as a lot of our material suppliers deal in USD. Advertising in USD allows us to be more consistent with market costs. A portion of the proceeds will go towards a green credit to offset the resources used in producing the materials for the Face Shield.
What is the DROP Face Shield made of?
As engineers with a background in Manufacturing Engineering we strongly believe in the K.I.S.S. philosophy. The Face Shields have three components, all materials are readily available and they can be easily produced and assembled with minimal production resources. The Face Shields consist of a thin (0.007") PETG plastic sheet, a foam band with adhesive and a simple 1" knitted elastic band to affix to the user's head.
